Events Coordinator
Role Description
As an events volunteer for Community Scrapstore North Somerset you will help inspire creativity and promote eco-friendly crafting by planning and managing public workshops held at our store in Weston-super-Mare, family activity days and outreach stalls.
Key responsibilities:
• Set up and Pack Down: Help transport crafting materials, set up crafting tables and pack away equipment safely at venues such as Grove Park or local community centres.
• Activity Facilitation: Guide children and families in using clean scrap materials to create imaginative arts and crafts.
• Public Engagement: Act as a friendly face for the charity, explaining the Scrapstore’s mission to reduce landfill waste and promoting membership.
Skills and Experience
You will need to enjoy interacting with people and share our passion for re-use. If you have crafting interests or skill or experience of working with young people that would be useful but not essential.
Volunteering at the Scrapstore
Our volunteers love the Community Scrapstore. We offer a unique service to our community, our members are lovely and there’s always a friendly can-do atmosphere.
The store is open 5 days a week and supported by a team of volunteers. Many of our events volunteers also work in the store from time to time, although this is not essential. This role would suit someone who is prepared to be support one to two events per month.

Membership Coordinator
Role Description
Reporting to our Scrapstore Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining records of our individual and group members. You will get in touch with members before their subscriptions expire to encourage them to keep their membership up to date and get any feedback on their experience as a member. For schools and groups you might be required to create invoices. You may also be asked to help with other administrative tasks such as updating our meeting room booking system.
Skills and Experience
You will need to be competent with MS Excel and have good communication skills. You will need to comply fully with GDPR regulations in your dealings with membership data, but full training and support will be provided.
Other requirements
This role can be carried out at home if you have access to MS Excel and suitable up to date virus protection, but we’d love to see you in store at least every few weeks.

IT and Administrator
Role Description
Reporting to our Scrapstore Manager, you will provide the expertise and support that the team needs to make full use of our shared IT tools and processes. You will set up and maintain a shared file system, ensuring compliance with GDRP requirements and make sure that we have effective back-up and virus protection strategies in place. You may also be asked to support update of our website and help us investigate new IT systems that might be useful in the day-to-day management of our charity. We may sometimes also ask you to shadow some of our other volunteering roles so that we have adequate cover when other volunteers aren’t available.
Skills and Experience
You will need to be competent with MS products and open to learning how to support any new systems that we might introduce in the future. Patience and a sense of humour would also be useful attributes.

Store Assistant
Role Description
Reporting to our Scrapstore Manager, you will work in our store in Weston-super-Mare providing support and advice to customers and selling our scrap resources. Your role will also involve restocking and reorganising our shelves and display areas to suit the wide variety of resources that we have in store. You will also make sure that the store is reasonably tidy and free of any EH&S hazards.
When you’re comfortable that you have enough experience we might occasionally ask you to open or man the store when the Scrapstore Manager is out visiting suppliers or away. This is entirely optional and if you’re not comfortable doing this that’s no problem.
